So far despite COVID-19 being a constant threat here in WA we have been extremely fortunate.
However, there is increasing awareness, support and recognition of a condition where a large variety of disabling symptoms are extending weeks, months and in some cases over a year following the end of the infectious period.
We are calling this Long Covid and it appears the symptoms are very similar to those with ME/CFS – Myalgic Encephalomyelitis / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
Long Covid is currently affecting at least 1 in 20 individuals who have had COVID 19.
- extreme fatigue
- shortness of breath
- chest pain
- racing heart
- sore throat/burning airways
- brain fog
We are seeing disturbances in the breathing patterns of everyone living with Long Covid.
If you have had Covid -19, have returned to WA from overseas and are still experiencing symptoms please seek help.
The treatment of dysfunctional breathing and quality rest is an essential first step in managing recovery from Long Covid.
Investigations by your GP and specialists whilst absolutely essential may show no signs of pathology which makes accessing treatment difficult.
